i could stare at this for hours! what a project this must have been, and worth every second. great title too, nice metaphor. mmm the colors + textures, now i could really eat this up! you can almost read it like a comic from panel to panel. i don't think i've ever seen anything like this before!

in one center panel, 5th row down, 4th column from right, is that a person with a big lapel with pink socks over the head?!

That's funny! i had to go get the piece to make sure. She is just a lady that is very red-earthy color because she is spanish or mediterainean. (how do you spell that word?) See the one with George Washington. That was a dumb brooch i made when i used to be a jeweler. One time i didn't have any supplies so i just made something out of paper. Under george wash. are some nympho-maniacs running thru the garden. What would George washington think?
Yes, this picture still doesn't do this justice. I think i will have it re-photographed. Not only do you want to eat it but you want to touch it because it has so much texture. Loose threads and such hanging off. These are little talisman.
When my best friend was killed in a car accident i had the heeby-geebies for about a year, regarding death coming at any time. I made this kind of as a memorial quilt to help me get over it. I hung it over my bed for protection and it worked and i got over it. Hope that's not too much information.
Since you live so close i might have to send it to you so you can see it and send it back. Of course then you would be forced to go down to the Museum of Modern Art and order them to buy it for their permanent collection!

Art is not a matter of perfect technique, it is life of the soul. It is my belief that ultimate reality can only be achieved by a passionate burning devotion to one's work.

i think george would jump right in!
it's not too much info at all, i like to know the background of a piece and especially if it has special meaning like this does. that explains the patience and dedication and emoton put into it, and the kinds of protection it gave you. i lost a good friend the same way and i remember those heebie jeebies well! i wish i had that kind of protection!
i'd love to touch it! but don't send i'd get so nervous! but we should both go over to moma and have a little talk with that curator. knock a little sense into them!

with such simple items you've made this amazing piece of complex art. it must have taken quite some time and effort to make this all work so well together.
